First off, before I say another word, I FOUND THE MOTHERLODE OF HEARING AID BATTERIES!! They were discovered in a Boots – a UK version of CVS with much nicer cosmetics. All sizes! I was so enraptured by them that I flat out FORGOT to check the packaging and see if it was more accessible compared to the now “impossible to open without a hacksaw” packaging required in the USA. I should have checked and definitely should have bought some for Brad’s and my hearing aids. Epic fail on my part but locating the batteries was a solid first step!
Galway has the heart of Boston with water views, a harbor, and Quay Street reminiscent of Faneuil Hall with many shops and pubs. It is a very walkable city, much like Boston, complete with uneven cobblestone paths which I gingerly tiptoed upon considering my unpredictable balance.
Regrettably, I woke up with a cold the last day of the trip and missed out on the group excursion out to an Abbey someplace about 90 minutes away – perhaps more with traffic. Ironically, though disappointed, I found solace in reading, writing, and sitting quietly here in our lodging with the incredible view of the river. Considering the events of the past year coupled with daily stressors and excitements alike, this really was a much needed respite for me, and a perfect ending to a perfect week.
